It always captures me in different ways and gives me new experiences. I still love eating in Hong Kong, speaking cantonese to char chan teng waiters and whiling my evening away at Tsim Sha Tsui harbour watching the unrivalled skyline. I’ll be back soon, hopefully!

The French Riviera

September 22, 2015

The French Riviera is the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast corner of France which includes Monaco, Nice, Antibes, Cannes, St Tropez etc. If you’re a beach lover, you have to visit the french riviera! It’s incredible! I stayed in Nice for 2 nights and took a train out to explore Antibes and Monaco. I love Nice the most cos it’s a small unpretentious town with very nice people and pristine beaches. Would definitely go back if I have a chance, and hopefully Cannes next!

If you’re wondering, we took a direct flight from Barcelona to Nice and it only cost us $110SGD one way (flight was an hour). It was very easy getting into the city from the airport as well. A short 30 mins bus ride! Once you set foot into the city, trust me you’ll be blown away by the powder blue water and black pebbled beach. So breath-taking!

Gelato ice cream for my first bite of Nice, of course!DSC04998DSC05003 We started the 2nd day early and took a railway train from Nice gare de ville to Antibes which took about half an hour. We bought an unlimited day train pass for about 15 euros I think. The train pass can get you unlimited rides to Cannes, Monaco etc!DSC05011Gorgeous lace insert dress by french label – Magali PascalDSC05012 DSC05013 DSC05018Antibes!DSC05020 DSC05021 DSC05024 DSC05025We trekked along Cap d’antibes for 1.5 hour. Bad idea to wear maxi and gladiators to trek hahah.DSC05050 DSC05055 DSC05077 DSC05079 DSC05082 DSC05089Was so tempted to cliff-dive but was kinda scared as well cos sometimes the waves were pretty big. Damnit, when will I ever get to cliff dive!DSC05095 DSC05100 DSC05123 DSC05125 DSC05141 DSC05153 DSC05159 DSC05160 DSC05167 DSC05179After soaking up the sun the whole afternoon, we hopped on the train and made our way to Monaco. Monte Carlo, oh yeah baby!  It took us another 30-40 mins.DSC05201Hotel De Paris
This was where the movie Monte Carlo was filmed at, where Selena Gomez jumped from one balcony to another! It’s one of my favourite chick flicks so I was really looking forward to be in Monte Carlo. The hotel sure did not disappoint and the amount of fancy cars was unreal.DSC05204 Monte Carlo Casino!DSC05206

To me, there was not much of a culture, not much of a story to tell. It’s just glitz and glamour. So we left within 2 hours and headed back to Nice for dinner instead. Need I mention that everything in Monte Carlo was hella expensive too?DSC05270 DSC05274Third day saw us exploring Nice before our evening flight! We shopped around a bit and cycled along Promenade des Anglais with our rented bikes. Such a simple activity but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Best cycling view ever and I had Pierre Herme macarons to munch on while cycling heh.11057721_10155740767241980_7032689485398244566_n 11998979_10155740767086980_1582625916357552571_n 12003236_10155740767076980_5178094338446684015_n 12003382_10155740767071980_2408043795305248912_n 12027596_10155740767056980_7038335217287131852_n 12027659_10155740766941980_2633413858516143329_n

12043129_10155740767066980_5723213665082043764_nI enjoyed and love Nice so I’d definitely recommend you guys to swing by if you’re travelling to places near Nice. I think 3 full days would be perfect to chill in Nice and explore the other parts of The French Riviera! And it’s definitely the nicest during summer!

To powder blue waters and glistening macarons!

Barcelona with Roomorama

September 7, 2015

This is the best part of my Barcelona trip ; BEACH! I’m sure you know by now that I love the beach and I visit the beach whenever I get a chance to so how could I say no to lounging at La Barceloneta with my girls and a glass of sangria?? We only had one day at the beach so we decided to go to the one that most tourists go to, La Barceloneta. It was very packed but I didn’t feel annoyed at all. In fact, the crowd actually kinda made it nice. Everyone was just tanning, drinking wine, playing water sports etc, so chill!DSC02816 DSC02821A local recommended us to Barraca for the best paella in Barcelona and I gotta say it’s really good! Not to mention, we had the best lunch view ever.DSC02871 DSC02890 DSC02913 DSC04953DSC02924 DSC02943Hit the beach right after lunch!DSC02946 DSC02952 DSC02956 DSC02991 DSC04946DSC02999Some photos from my phone!11052002_10155712928846980_1188811088208763453_n1382354_10155712928836980_209671281214150786_n-checker11953051_10155712928831980_7573496120122277346_n-checker11924257_10155712929076980_3884359875267805702_nDSC04956We also chanced upon a super good gelato ice cream shop near the beach. It’s called Vioko and it’s very famous for its wide range of gelato flavours! I love it so much and I bagged home chocolates and macarons from there too hehe. We were so tired from our beach day so we headed back to our apartment to rest and boy am I thankful for such a cosy apartment to go back to!

As you guys know, I’m a fan of apartment living so this time I decided to book an apartment through Roomorama.
Roomorama provides short-term vacation rentals worldwide with over 300,000 stunning accommodations and they work with only verified hosts so no worries about staying in a dodgy apartment.

Here are some photos of my 2-bedroom apartment located in Gracia!DSC04972 DSC04970

DSC04969This is one of the rooms and that’s my bedroom! Super cosy, clean and chic! There were so many cool movie posters in the house but I forgot to take pics of them :/DSC04968 DSC04967 DSC04966Vera’s and Ange’s shared bedroom!DSC04964A fully equipped kitchen which we utilised almost every day! There was also a washing machine and a dryer which came in so handy for the wet beach clothes. I really love having a washing machine during long trips so I can wash my clothes and re-wear them hehe.

There was a neighbourhood party going on during our stay and it was so timely! The streets were decorated very creatively and colourfully by the residents and the party didn’t stop till 4 am. Every night, the residents and even people from all over Barcelona will come over to sing, drink and make merry! Such an eye-opener! So glad our stay was so timely and we could see how locals really lived and partied.

DSC02765 DSC02769 DSC02771 DSC02774 DSC02779Morning in my en-suite balcony!DSC03022 DSC03020We also got quite a lot of food recommendations from the residents around and here are some!DSC02794Churros from Xurreria Trebol! I really liked the original one!!DSC02787 DSC02788 DSC03031Unfortunately, I don’t remember the names of the restaurants but we had a super good meal in Gracia before we left Barcelona. There are so many good restaurants in that area and I wish we had more time to explore! Oh how I love spanish food!

I really enjoyed my stay with RoomoramaThe apartment was clean, spacious and conveniently located plus we got to party at a neighbourhood party (so rare don’t you think!!). Thanks to staying with them, we got lots of restaurants recommendations and tried lots of good food. Definitely a one of a kind experience you don’t get in hotels! It’s always a happy feeling to go back to a cosy home after a long day out!

Sign up with Roomorama using this link – and you get $50USD credit in your account! Can definitely use this for your upcoming trip (:

Thank you Roomorama and the wonderful hosts for putting me up!

Ending this post with some shots from our kayaking/snorkeling trip in Costa Brava!
